Find It DC Terms of Service

By using Find It DC, you agree to these terms. They apply to players, moderators, organizers, teachers, group leaders, and anyone else using the site or participating in a hunt hosted through the service.

1) Using the service

  • You may use Find It DC only for lawful, non-abusive participation in scavenger hunts and related event management.
  • You are responsible for your device, connectivity, and any permissions needed to use location, camera, or messaging features.
  • If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service.

2) Accounts, teams, and moderators

  • Players may join a hunt using a join code or team flow provided by the moderator.
  • Moderators are responsible for the sessions they create, the teams they manage, and the communications they send.
  • You must provide accurate information when creating a hunt, joining a team, or entering moderator details.

3) Location and on-site participation

Hunt experiences may depend on your physical location. You are solely responsible for participating safely, obeying laws, respecting property rules, and staying aware of traffic, weather, crowds, and other hazards. Do not use the service in a way that distracts you from safe movement or supervision.

4) Uploaded content and proof photos

  • You retain ownership of photos and other content you upload.
  • You grant us a limited license to store, display, process, and share that content as needed to run the hunt experience and related galleries.
  • Do not upload unlawful, infringing, offensive, or privacy-violating content. We may remove content or restrict access at our discretion.

5) Acceptable use

  • Do not cheat, tamper with scores, automate gameplay, scrape content, or interfere with the service.
  • Do not impersonate another person, misuse join codes, or upload content for hunts you are not authorized to join.
  • Do not attempt to bypass security, rate limits, or technical restrictions.

6) School groups and minors

Teachers, parents, and organizers are responsible for supervising minors and obtaining any permissions needed for photos, location sharing, and communications. The service does not replace adult supervision or field-trip safety procedures.

7) Availability and scoring

We try to keep Find It DC available and accurate, but routes, stop content, timing, maps, scores, or leaderboard behavior may change. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, perfect GPS accuracy, or that every hunt result will be error-free.

8) Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to hunts, teams, moderator tools, or uploaded content if we believe these terms are being violated, the service is being abused, or legal or safety concerns require action.

9) Disclaimers and liability

  • The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law.
  • We are not responsible for injuries, property damage, lost data, lost points, missed clues, GPS errors, or interruptions caused by third-party services or devices.
  • To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of Find It DC is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid directly for the applicable hunt service in the prior 12 months.
